2011 Petite Sirah shows stunning depth and concentration, especially in a
cool vintage. The nose displays aromas
of dark briar fruits, graphite, black and pink peppercorn and wet earth. The palate opens to flavors of tea leaf,
cigar smoke, and Moroccan spices with elements of graphite and blackberry
pie. The entry is creamy with a soft
velvety core reminiscent of panna cotta.
The tannins are well proportioned, contributing a round, long finish
to a wine with plenty of life and balance.
It is easily approached in its youth and will remain fresh and vibrant
and age for a decade or more.
